Naturalistic excursion that explores the trentine valleys in the north-western area of Lake Garda: - the Varone waterfall - the Lake Tenno - the Lake Toblino - the castle of Drena Length: about 80 Km From Riva del Garda we take the road which brings to Varone waterfall. Varone waterfall is in a hold gorge. The Water falls for 87 meters and with its power shakes the surrounding rock with thunders, bursts, booms in an infernal din in which the primordial sounds of the earth echo. The waterfall originates from the Lake Tenno, an alpine lake which collects the thaw-waters of glaciers and feeds by filtering the waterfall. This characteristic of basin with slow outflow of water is the principal cause of the continuous oscillation of its water-level.
It is practically impossible to see twice the same Lake Tenno: in spring its level can increase of 14 meters and decrease of over 7 meters during the summer, up to let emerge an island in its middle. The place is an authentic show of nature. We continue our trip in the nature. Along the way we find an isolated restaurant where to stop. When we have passed Passo Ballino we can visit the naturalistic area of the Torbiera di Fiavè. Inside the Town hall of Fiavè is the Visitors Center. Another naturalistic area is the Val Lomasona which we reach passing through the small towns of Dasindo and Vigo Lomaso. Who loves free climbing in Val Lomasona, in a splendid landscape frame, there is a sport climbing trail, 50 routes, with rating from 5a to 8a. In the place "Malga Lomasona", 300 m beyond the mountain dairy we park on the right side and then we continue on foot to the left along a country road and then a trail. The itinerary continues with the visit to the Thermal baths of Comano. We go now down to the bottom of the valley up to Lake Toblino. Here we can taste a good glass of wine sitting at shade of the castle and enjoying charm of place. Further on it is possible to visit the castle of Drena. We drive the road which brings up to Drena and runs along the so-called "Marocche", the widest area of alpine arc covered by deposits of apost-glacial landslide (a whole part of Brento Mountain slipped thousand of years ago after the retirement of glaciers which existed here and origined the Lake Garda). In the proximities also a site where we can photograph the tracks of dinosaurs. How to find the tracks: turn to the left side in direction of Lake Cavedine. Walk forward for about 1 kilometer; reference mark: three rocks which close the entry of a trail now in disuse. Take on the right side the first trail and walk northward for about 100 meters. The tracks go back to 190 million years ago and they belong to different dinosaurs: at least a big herbivore of 6-7 meters length and a carnivore. They are on different rocks in the so-called zone of "landslide of Kas", in the easter area of biotop of Marocche. A route with stages through the geological beauties of the biotop, prepared by the Museum Tridentino of natural sciences, hands up to the tracks of dinosaurs.
