By car to Maderno where we catch the ferry and in about 15 minutes we reach the city of Torri del Benaco. The ancient Scaligerian Castle of Torri del Benaco together with that that was its strengthened dock is a splendid example of military architecture and represented one of the more important military fortifications of the Lake Garda. Currently it hold an interesting etnographic Museum, with the characteristic aspects of local culture: the fishing with a show of the utensils that the fishermen used in the daily life, the production of the olive-oil, the cultivation of the citrus fruit with visit of the eighteenth-century greenhouse, still now in activity, where the native plants of lemons and orange tree (the only trees of Lake Garda survived to the frost of year 1985) are still cultivated. Another sector is devoted to the rocky incisions that have been found in the hinterland. Very nice the harbour zone with the ancient Venetian houses and the Building “Palazzo del Capitano del Governo”. 8 Kms away from Torri del Benaco is Punta S.Vigilio, small private village surrounded by cypresses and ulivi, by a romantic gulf (Bay of the Sirens), where we can have a bath, and by a small dock with restaurant where we can taste the typical dishes of Lake Garda.
