Naturalistic excursion that crosses the three principal valleys on the west area of the Lake Garda:
- the Valley Valle di Ledro with the Lake Ledro and the Lake Ampola
- the Valley Valle del Chiese with the Lake Idro
- the Lake Valvestino

From Riva del Garda we take the gallery that in ca. 10 minutes reach the Val di Ledro. On top of the slope the valley opens and suddenly appears the Lake Ledro with its emerald color. The Lake Ledro, to 600 meters quota, is suspended between the Mediterranean climate of the Lake Garda and the alpine climate of the near glaciers. We can stop and visit the museum of the palafittes of Molina di Ledro. Continuing, 6 Kms forward we meet the biotop of the Lake Ampola. The Lake Ampola represents an naturalistic habitat of extreme interest because the shores of the lake are completely at the natural state; this means rich in flora and proper for the necessities and habits of aquatic birds, of amphibians and of reptiles. It is possible to walk on a gangway on the reed thicket and admire the colors of the flowering of orchids, or in a small minibiotop to admire the principal aquatic and botanical species, or learn and recognize the terrestrial one along an interesting botanical path. The Visitors Center gives the opportunity to know the natural things and their evolution, for example as the Lake Ampola is changed during the times. In the Visitors Center can be admired: a big aquarium, a terrario, a great plastic model of the valley, a diorama to discover the flowers of Lake Ampola, birds' aerie with the possibility to listen their voices.
We drive toward the Valley Valle del Chiese where we meet the city of Storo, famous for the maize-flour, the best of Trentino. With this flour would be prepared the dish which was the basis of Trentino's farmers cooking: the polenta. When we have passed the Lake Idro we turn to the left direction of Zumiè and Valvestino. Now we are crossing an intact and isolated naturalistic environment up to Navazzo where left the hold valley, the Lake Garda will appear us again in all its Mediterranean beauty. We can stop to Gargnano for a drink directly at the shore of Lake Garda.
